Zbrush Monster Games Art pipeline 2D

My turnaround wasn’t very detailed because I knew I wanted to make a lobster, but I wasn’t sure exactly how I wanted it to look. I decided to continue working in ZBrush and explore different ideas as the model developed, allowing the final design to emerge through the sculpting process. I think I will come back to the turnaround at some point and work on it further.

Using the ZSpheres from a scorpion model, I kitbashed the base body of my lobster, as the overall body structure was quite similar. I then sculpted the upper body on top of this foundation, refining the form and adding details to better match the anatomy of a lobster.

Making of the arm

I started adding colour in ZBrush using Polypaint. I chose these colours because my partner, Finch, was using a similar colour palette for their monster, and I wanted our designs to look cohesive and fit well together.

I also kitbashed a skull into my creature’s hands to add some extra detail. At this point, I hadn’t coloured the skull yet. The skull model I used was a cracked skull from Sketchfab

As of writing this (June 1st), the project is still not finished. I’ve already moved on to the second project this term, so for now I’m leaving this one here. I plan to come back to it later once I’ve made more progress on my other work.

I also sculpted these details, aiming to make it look like souls or human forms trapped beneath the skin.
